I'll cruise as low as about 45mph on fairly straight and boring roads for the fuel economy. Anything much lower than that and I'll downshift. I don't ride around at speeds below 40-45 enough to know what engine speed I am cruising at, but I'll guess and say it's usually around the dreaded 5,500rpm range.
