CeeBeeArr, they dont really use velcro, I was wrong. it is similar, but a harder straight pronged plastic, and the two halves snap together. They have a life cycle, on and off of maybe 20 times, unlike velro. the buttons do not flex like velcro would. 3/4" dia. anyway good luck on your project. I was not thrilled with my laminar lip, some bikes are difficult to change aerodynamics, so maybe that was part of the problem.

first attempt

We tried your system and here is the result for tonight... we are still missing bits and pieces but it should be finalised tomorrow.... with trial on the speedway. I'll keep in touch with the findings!!!!
My Loukse is terrific (just see his smile) and not only at making my bike great (you will probably see my smile tomorrow) ;)

Hi CeeBeeArr, and thanks for your idea... we tried our first proto today and it was smashing!!!!!!!!!!!! it really worked to near perfection. we went for a 415 kms round trip and I don't feel half as tired as I used to before. I will post photos tomorrow and more explanations but I wanted to let you know that your idea worked really well.

Hi again, here is the latest/final version of the screen
We have added a cut plastic pipe on both edges because in the trial of the first version, the two plates rubbed on one another and it caused scratches at some places even though we used the same washers as on today's photo
For the first version we tried to bend the plate by heating.... not a good idea because it is not easy to get an even job. Today's plate is just bolted slowy...
Findings of yesterday's tour, excellent!!! I had no problem at all with side wind, may be due to the shape of the outer "wings"??? I don't know
For info, I am about 1m71 tall, and we raised the center by 13cms.
I managed over 80MPG (2.9L/100kms) using the screen and removing the pipe in the air box on a 400+kms trip. Speed between 90-120, on major roads but mainly on small country roads.

This thread was the first I saw regarding the windscreen mod:

http://www.cbr250.net/forum/honda-cbr250-general-discussion/1341-suitable-touring-verdict-yes.html

Here is a link to the mod:
SAENG/TA, Sport Touring Accessories - Wing-Tips™
This one has peel-n-stick so no drilling required.

Further research sent me here as well:
TwistedThrottle.com : ...by Brand - MRA Motorcycle Windshields -

I am seriously looking at the one from Saeng.com. I like the 'no drilling' and
money-back guarantee. Also, it is made for this bike.

I bought the MRA X-Screen Add-On Variable Windscreen Spoiler Blade shown here-
TwistedThrottle.com : MRA X-creen Add-On Variable Windscreen Spoiler Blade (clamp-on) - MRA.XCC

I have had good results and have found that there is much less wind pressure. It is possible to vary the angle of the screen but I found too much angle produces a lot of turbulence. With a small tilt upward there is very good wind protection with little turbulence. In a tuck, there is plenty of room to get behind the screen in a really calm area - great for hail storms! I have been using the clamp on attachment but the clamps are heavy and ugly. When I get the right position I will drill the screen and eliminate the clamps. There is an air gap between the 2 screens and perhaps this is why it works well. I will try plugging the gap to see if there is any difference.
