Windscreen(Windshield) cleaning

Whats the best way to clean that clear plastic windshield without scratching it. I looked at my screen the other day and i see scratches going up down side to side. Its not horrible yet but it might get there if I keep doing what im doing to it. Windex with paper tower? is that doing that? Or was it when I took a terry clothe and wiped it clean?

I usually wash them clean so that there's no dust or dirt left, then use Meguiar's Plastic Polish with a terry or microfiber cloth to finish off. I'd be curious to hear if anyone does something that works better..
Plastic polish is the way to go. You should be able to find some at your local car accessories store. I normally use some glass cleaner first to get any grime/grease/oil off.

furious, I think the Meguiars is the way to go...very important to use cloth which will be soft and non-marring...wipe off before it dries......start with a clean windscreen..
NEVER use a paper towel to clean anything that's plastic or that has a glossy finish! Paper towels are very abrasive. It's best to use a soft microfiber towel. You can pick one up for a few bucks at Walmart or any automotive parts store.
Doh!

I never knew there was such a thing as plasic polish:confused: im gonna go check that out then. Thanks guys.
Amonia free! Make sure anything you use to clean is amonia free. Windex = Bad
dont know if youve made a decision yet but, BIKE SPIRITS will clean and polish your wind screen, tank, instrument cluster, basically everything on your bike that needs polishing, excluding your tires, seat, hand grips, and its only like 6.99..and always use a microfiber towel..

It's the same kind of stuff they use to clean cloudy headlight lenses. It's a mild abrasive but it should be good for minimizing small surface scratches.

+1.

Do NOT use any ammonia product on plexiglas/plastic.

The best thing about my scooter is that the windscreen comes off easy with four bolts. I remove it and put it in warm soapy water in the kitchen sink and let it soak. Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth. Don't think that's an option on the CBR.
