Hello All. I am a first time rider..long time passenger. Decided to take the plunge when the new CBR 250 came out. I'm just learning but am having fun. I'm pretty small 5'4 105 lbs. Really need to get the bike lowered to be extra confident that I won't drop it. I noticed that the bike has a hard time getting into 1st gear from a stop. I often have to rock it forward or backward first. Is this common?

The issue of shifting from N into 1st gear seems to be a fairly common issue. I have the same issue and usually just roll forward an inch or two and then it will shift into 1st.

There is a topic under the Problems and Issues section about the shifting issue. I would check that as well.

Also, congratulations on the bike and have fun.

from the info in another thread (1st gear shift), you can find the explanation and the trick.

just use the clutch half way when its hard to shift to 1st gear, especially from stop position.

Man there is just something so sexy about women on bikes. It gets me everytime.

My D675 has a clunky gearbox and I have the same problem. Rockin it is the only way to get around it.

And ya welcome to the boards. Keep us all updated on your riding progression.
