I didn't really do any break in for mine. I had to go out of town for 160 miles in order to find one and the easiest way to get it home was to ride it home on the divided highway. I tried to do some wind up, wind down of the rpms while riding so it didn't just drone along at 7000 rpm for three hours and made two stops to let the engine cool and heat up again. My bike runs great now. No ticking noises and is great on gas at 84 mpg US.
