Tires For Track Use?

Since there isn't a place to post this race track relevant question I'll ask it here for now.
I have only run Diablo Rosso II on the track. I have always wanted to try the BT003RS but concerned about the fact I've read they are slippy in the wet. We are not allowed warmers or rain tires. It seems the S20 EVO would fit the rules better. Can anyone compare the three tires from personal experience?

I moved these posts into a new thread in the Performance forum, so as to keep the other thread on topic (which asked the question whether or not the site needs a forum just for Track/Race Bike discussion topics).

I'd rather see members start a new thread on a specific topic, rather than tacking random posts onto an existing thread which is discussing an entirely different topic.

BT003's are fine in the wet, not as good as DR2's
but their lightweight (Im going to start weighing my new and used tyres) feel and grip in the dry made up for it. cbr chews them up very quickly, 4 days tops from a front.
Go the S20 and have the best of both worlds.

Why on earth are you not allowed tyre warmers!?
Tyres last 2-3 times as long on warmers.

*Don't use warmers in the rain though.
also, run whatever the other top racers use, and whatever brand has track support

We all run DR2 except the CBR250 guys that ran in the Nationals as they are on Dunlop Unbeaten spec tire. I know some guys used to run BT003RS but not sure why nobody does anymore. I think just because the Pirelli brand was what everyone was running at the track.

That's the class rules, 250 4 stroke, no slicks/warmers/rains, simple rules for a modest budget. There was discussion that warmers may be allowed for some rounds but none of the racers wanted them at the time.

I buy two sets of DR2/year. I was thinking of getting a SuperCorsa SC1 110/70/17 front but assumed it might prefer warmers.

I would like to see the weight on each of these

Ive run the 003s as well as a Rosso II rear/SC1 front combo. I think the 003s are great for a cheaper set of track day tires and do last decently like Aufitt said. The front tire always seemed to give me a little chatter at higher speeds with a lot of lean, but that's probably because I was still on stock suspension. The SC1 front never gave me that problem and inspired a lot more confidence for me, though. The feedback from the tire also seemed better with the SC1. Differences in the rear tires were negligible, though, the Rosso II seemed to drop off much quicker near the end of its life.

Every bike and ever rider is different. We can tell you our experiences all day long but you'll have to find what works best for YOU through experience and testing. :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the above experiences were without tire warmers. I couldn't afford them at the time. I will be running warmers, this year, so I am very interested to see how different the results are. I can say, for sure, that the SC1 front gets up to temp much quicker than the 003 when not on warmers.

The 140 rear will be an SC2. I plan to try one to see if they make a difference. There is a huge price difference between them and the Rosso II.

I only ran the SC1 in the wet once, which ended up with me high siding because the Rosso II lost grip in a switchback. I won't be track riding in the wet without rain tires, anymore.

Reviving this thread... I raced on Pirelli's this past weekend. SC1 on the front and SC2 on the back. Great traction and feel, even beyond the edge - I slid both back and front at different times and there was enough feedback and feel to easily recover.

I've ridden track days on Battlax 03s. They are great tires for the road, but a little stiff in the carcass for really pushing it on the track. (I'm a die hard fan of Bridgestone slicks on my CBR600, but I'll probably stick with the Pirelli's on my 250 unless Bridgestone comes out with a slick that fits it.)
