Thanks TrueG,
I still am hoping someone will let me know if the front turn signals are always on, but not the rear? Just want to make sure I didn't short a wire when hooking up the light kit, hopefully it's supposed to be that way for extra visibility?
You did not do anything wrong. Only the front signals are always on.

Thanks to everyone for their input here. I too find no problems using a top box on this bike. In fact if you ride upright and keep it under 65mph, it's a no brainer, the box actually makes a little back pressure, gives you a little more envelope and lessons the air pushing onto you from the windscreen. No buffeting for me in light winds with rain.

I can feel it back there, it makes the front feel a little lighter and a little different on the corners. But I was genuinely impressed with the highway performance. Took it up to 80, down hill, in a tuck, I could feel it drag a little bit at that speed, but it didn't move me around any.

Well, I just had a chance to try out my Top Box in some horrible wind conditions. I live in the south, near the beach and with Debbie on her way, the winds going over the bridge to get to the local beach that is on an island were ridiculous, especially on the way back. They criss cross this bridge from seemingly four different directions, they buffet my bike side to side and front to back. I can honestly say my bike was not buffeted any worse with the givi box on there than it was the last time I rode out there a few weeks back before I installed the box. So i'm very satisfied with my give box :)

I wish I didn't have to have it, but now I can't live without it. Wouldn't mind being able to run two or three different sizes. This 33 size is good for me, much bigger than my tail bag, fit a 9" fan in a box and other stuff from homedepot. The latch on the shad is so cheap, it was already broken when I got it. Pay more and get a little better with the Givi I assume.

Really like those pics, especially being in the grassy area. Whooda thought the CBR 250 could look so cool dressed up as a tourer?

I've got the same top case -- the 33L Shad. However, I've since replaced the clear reflector below, with the red -- just haven't taken a pic yet -- looks much better.

I compared the Shad and Givi Monolock side by side before I ordered the Shad, and from a mount, latch, and build perspective, I felt the Shad had the advantage. Otherwise, I'd have bought the Givi -- they were in the same $$ ballpark.

I don't feel it *at all* back there. Admittedly, my FZ6R is 100lbs. heavier than my CBR250r was. My first thought was to use it occasionally, since it's so simple to remove. However, like you, I can no longer live without it. I keep rain gear, change of gloves, neck gaiters, ear plugs, you name it, in there. I can do small grocery shoppings, and local 'round town trips have suddenly become *much* more productive. Amazing...

Anyway, enjoy it. (You might want to consider that red reflector... it would go with your red/silver CBR, and looks *really* good).

You can get the Bestem 929 Givi copy for like $90. Decently built (can't expect Givi at that price), holds 2 helmets, and comes with the mounting plate. The one on my Triumph has held up fine for the past year, half of that year being rainy season with it as my daily rider. Gonna put the red Bestem 2012 on my CBR250R, turns out to be a pretty good color match. Was gonna install it before I returned to Sicily, but Twisted Throttle still hasn't shipped my Givi rack. Should have just bought it off Ebay, last 3 times I've tried to order from them they haven't had the item in stock.

It does look pretty good. I bet you are pleased to have the rack on.
Does it buffet the bike around on the highway, can you notice it catching the wind?
Big thanks to this poster. i also have the tri-colour and after seeing this pic i went and bought this case and im loving it. I cant believe i commuted near on 30,000miles without a top box. So handy to store my helmet in and taking stuff to work or my rock climbing equipment to the climbing gym (needs careful packing but i have shoes, harness and a 50meter rope in there and a fe other bits). Top boxes are the future for me.
Now to get those sexy side mounted hard cases for touring goodness.

Edit: taken the bike up pretty fast and so far no indication of it affecting handling

Givi Installed

Was looking at a Givi case for a long time… and finally bought and installed it a few weeks ago. It is very convenient and much better than the saddle bags that I was using. Wish I would have installed it months ago. Highly recommended.
